Student Placement

PLACEMENTS AVAILABLE AT ABACUS:

One to two Year 3 undergraduate or postgraduate placements are available each year at different times. The duration of the placement is negotiable.

The primary focus of placement at Abacus will be observing a wide range of training delivery, and working towards the co-facilitation of this.

Responsible to the Abacus HR Director, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to learn about:

A wide range of training subjects such as AOD signs and symptoms, co-existing problems (CEP), suicide prevention, de-escalation, supervision, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
Training facilitation skills
Working with consumers/peers
Coordination and resourcing of training sessions
Being an active part of a small organisation
